About Chapter

The Mid-Florida Chapter of NFBPA began in 1992.  A small group of people from the Central Florida area attended the 1991 National Forum for Black Public Administrators' national conference (The FORUM), in Los Angeles, CA. Inspired by what they experienced at the national conference, the group decided to create a local chapter to foster the same type of strong networking that was evident at the national level. The primary focus was to increase professional development and training opportunities, increase the number of African Americans in senior administrative positions, and to serve as a resource to elected officials and the community on public policy matters.
