Leadership, Innovation and Talent – How to Stay LIT in the Workplace

Effective leadership and career development tools are key elements that all public administrators need. The greatest investment you can make is in yourself. Workshops in this track will support development of skills required for the advancement of managers, leaders and key contributors.

What strategies can be utilized to establish and successfully achieve your professional development goals and objectives? How does one navigate from vision to actualization? The leadership and career development track will help you set the framework to lead others and manage the communities you serve.

Prevention, Intervention and Opportunity – Paths to Strong and Safe Communities

This workshop track will focus on the concepts to address violence in the community by using strategies related to prevention, intervention and opportunity. With public health as a model, the approach focuses on prevention.

As an example, strategies dealing with toxic stress as it relates to social cultural environment and inadequate educational, economic and employment environments would be developed for implementation. More experts now recognize a model for preventing violence that requires synchronized strategy among public, private, non-profit and faith based organizations. How to create these collaborations effectively will be explored as part of this track.


Engaging with your Community – Equity and Social Justice Causes

This workshop track will focus on how national and local incidences can emerge as a social justice movement and the implications for your community and organization. Approaches, tools, and techniques for successful collaborations with grass-roots initiated or established community organizations’ efforts shall address perceived or real social, economic, environment inequities and injustices in your community. Discussions will include innovative practices, policies or programs to ensure your organization is culturally responsive and aligned with your community.


IT, Financial Resources, Acquisition, and Community Development

Managing in today’s fast changing environment requires government to move faster and maximize every decision. There is no margin for error with a risk adverse public. In order to survive, actionable information is at a premium. This track will demonstrate and explore how to ensure the best information gets communicated via IT best practices, how to creatively acquire the resources to implement dynamic visions, and the best places to invest with the goal to transform communities.


University Row for Students

University Row is a platform for universities and students to network with other like-minded students and local government professionals from around the country. Attendees will learn about career strategies, innovative techniques and the solutions which are cutting edge and evidence based practices. Students do not want to miss this student-focused, three-day event.
