Charlene Amboree, Administrative Coordinator, Houston Health Department, Houston, Texas

Ms. Amboree manages the administrative, financial, personnel and operational activities within the division, while also providing executive-level support to the Chief Technology Officer.  She has over 28 years of public sector experience where she first began as a contractor. She is a proud mom of a handsome young man and a native Louisianian, who migrated to Texas and earned her Bachelor of Business from the University of Phoenix, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Texas Southern University.

Derrick Corker, CPRP, Director of Parks and Recreation, City of North Miami, Florida


Since deciding to pursue a career in Parks and Recreation, Derrick has now spent over fifteen years in the field, with the last six years in the City of North Miami.  He currently serves as the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, with responsibilities including developing the overall plans and direction for all Parks & Recreation programs, special events, rentals, concessions, parks, historical sites, and maintenance of all facilities.  He has developed methods of improving policies, processes, and practices within the Department. In addition to developing capital improvement projects for the Parks and Recreation Department, Derrick is committed to working closely with community leaders and residents to make the North Miami Parks and Recreation unit a useful resource for all residents.

John R. Crear, Jr., Graduate Engineer, CFM, Development Services - Engineering Department,   City of DeSoto, Texas


John Crear, Jr. currently works as an engineer for the City of DeSoto’s Department of Development Services.  John's position requires performing various tasks including plan review/oversight, drainage assessments, citizen interaction, as well as software utilization of ArcGIS and AutoCad.  After gaining employment with the City of DeSoto, John obtained certification as a Floodplain Manager (CFM). In addition to his graduate degree from California State University, Northridge (CSUN), Mr. Crear also holds an A.A. from Riverside City College as well as a B.S. in Civil Engineering, from CSUN.

Ronnie K. Dampier, Jr., Senior Government Operations Analyst, Office of the City Administrator, Washington, D.C. 

Ronnie currently serves as the Senior Government Operations Analyst in the Office of the City Administrator.  He previously served as the Management Analyst and Hearing Support Manager for the District of Columbia’s Adjudication Services Administration.  Ronnie’s professional background spans several industries including hospitality, government, and mortuary.  He accredits his success to his previous work experiences, being a leader committed to growth and development, and having great mentors.  Ronnie holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from Tuskegee University and a Master of Science in Project Management from George Washington University. He serves as the 2nd Vice President for the D.C. Chapter of NFBPA.

Ella Faulkner, Director of Capital Construction, Planning and Design, District of Columbia, DC 

Ella has been an active member of the planning and design community for 9 years.  She has been with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) for eight years.  Her main focus has been on planning, designing and construction management for all DPR’s inventory.  She also stepped into the Interim Chief Operating Officer position three times during transition periods but currently serves as the agency’s Capital Construction, Planning and Design Director.  Ella was chosen as a US Delegate to represent Washington DC on a recent trip to Morocco where she focused on Infrastructure Planning and design development.  She holds two Master’s Degrees in Regional and City Planning, and Geographic and Atmospheric Sciences, both from the University of Oklahoma.

Jennifer Thomas Gomez, Planning Manager Development Services Department, City of Missouri City, Texas

Jennifer Thomas Gomez has been a leader, mentor, and team builder in the City Planning profession for over twelve years.  Mrs. Thomas Gomez has a passion for City Planning, and for contributing to the success of communities. Presently, she works as the Planning Manager in the City of Missouri City, Texas’ Development Services Department, after having held several positions in the Department.  In Missouri City, Mrs. Thomas Gomez helps coordinate the City’s development processes, and works to ensure fair and consistent practices and communication. Through her experience, she has worked successfully on the formulation of various development plans, ordinances and policies.  Mrs. Thomas Gomez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Spelman College and a Masters of Urban Planning from the University of Kansas.
